Emerging Texas recording artist and hometown celebrity Sommer Floyd recently lit up the stage at the stage at the 2nd Annual State of Texas High School BBQ Cookoff in Burnet, Texas.

The event, which was held at Sommer's alma mater, Burnet High School, was designed to promote BBQ education to high school students across the state, with the winning team tagged as the Best High School Pitmasters in Texas, in addition to receiving a Golden Ticket to attend the World Food Championship in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Sommer added her own brand of sauce to the event by performing songs from her debut album, Ray of Light.

"It was really exciting having the opportunity to work together as one with my community, supporting all of these kids and their schools!" exclaims Sommer. "The kids' determination was simply amazing, and being able to lift up God's name in an atmosphere filled with family, friends and good food was one for the books!"
