After years of speculation, Disney has announced that Hulu will be fully folded into Disney+ starting in 2026. The move comes just weeks after Disney completed its $8.6 billion purchase of Comcast’s one-third stake in Hulu, giving Disney full ownership of the streaming service.

The integration means one app will house Disney’s general entertainment, family programming, major franchises, and ESPN’s sports content. Hulu’s iconic green-and-black tile will also replace the Star brand internationally this fall, signaling the brand’s expansion outside the U.S.

Disney first tested combining the services in spring 2024 with the “Hulu on Disney+” experience for bundle subscribers. The full merger is expected to streamline operations, reduce backend costs, and offer a more seamless viewing experience.

Disney CEO Bob Iger called the move “a major step forward in strengthening our streaming offering,” promising new features, a more personalized homepage, and improved technology.

Pricing for the combined service hasn’t been revealed, but with Disney+ and Hulu each starting at $10 per month, industry analysts expect a bundled rate with a likely increase for single-service subscribers.

In the era of streaming consolidation, Disney’s latest move puts all of its entertainment assets under one roof.
