🕊️ A Tragic Loss: Malcolm-Jamal Warner Dies in Drowning Incident at 54Hollywood and fans around the world are mourning the sudden and heartbreaking death of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show. Warner drowned on Sunday, July 20, while swimming during a family vacation in Costa Rica. He was 54 years old. In this video, we take a closer look at the tragic event, the newly released details surrounding the incident, and the outpouring of grief and love from fans, friends, and co-stars. 🌊 New Information on the Second Person Involved Authorities have now confirmed that a second person involved in the drowning incident — who remains in critical condition — was not connected to Warner personally, but entered the water in a heroic attempt to save him. 👮 The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) told PEOPLE that Warner was swept away by a current and was later rescued by bystanders, but tragically declared lifeless on shore. The other individual, described only as a good Samaritan, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and remains in critical condition as of July 22. 🗣️ A spokesperson for OIJ said: “The second victim came in [the water] to help Mr. Warner.” No identity has been released for this brave individual, and the investigation remains ongoing. ❤️ Warner’s Final Moments and Cause of Death According to the Costa Rican Red Cross, the emergency call came in at 2:10 p.m. local time, and two adult males were treated on-site. CPR was administered to Warner for 20 minutes, but he was declared deceased at the scene. An autopsy confirmed Warner’s official cause of death as accidental asphyxiation by submersion. His body was identified by the Costa Rican National Police and will be released to a funeral service company authorized by the Warner family. 🛫 Warner had reportedly been on vacation with his wife and daughter at the time of the incident, making the tragedy even more devastating. 🎭 Remembering Malcolm-Jamal Warner Malcolm-Jamal Warner was far more than a sitcom star. In addition to his iconic role as Theo on The Cosby Show, Warner had a rich, decades-spanning career in television, film, music, and poetry. His work included roles on: Malcolm & Eddie Reed Between the Lines The Resident Suits And many other acclaimed shows and indie films. 📸 Warner was last photographed in public in June 2024 at SiriusXM Studios in New York City, where he was promoting his recent projects and reflecting on his long career. 💔 Tributes Pour In Since the news of Warner’s passing, tributes have poured in from across the entertainment industry. 🎙️ Tracee Ellis Ross, who starred opposite Warner on Reed Between the Lines, called him: “Warm, gentle, present, kind, thoughtful, deep, funny, elegant. You made the world a brighter place.” 🕯️ Former Cosby Show castmates have also expressed their grief, including Phylicia Rashad, Keshia Knight Pulliam, and Tempestt Bledsoe. They shared heartfelt memories of working with Warner on the legendary sitcom that helped shape 1980s television. 📞 Even Bill Cosby, through his spokesperson Andrew Wyatt, said the death “reminded him of the same call he received when his son died.” Wyatt added that Warner had recently spoken to Cosby after a concert in Minnesota, and was “changing humanity.” 🌐 A Legacy That Will Live On Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s influence as an actor, musician, poet, and director made a lasting mark.
