In a blockbuster move that could change how football fans watch the game, ESPN and the NFL have agreed to a deal that would send the NFL Network, the RedZone Channel, and NFL Fantasy to ESPN in exchange for a 10% equity stake for the league in ESPN.

If approved by NFL owners, ESPN would take over and fully integrate NFL Network into its upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service, while keeping it on traditional cable and satellite. RedZone would become part of Disney’s linear network lineup, and NFL Fantasy would merge with ESPN Fantasy to create one official NFL fantasy platform.

Disney CEO Robert Iger called the agreement a win for fans, promising “greater convenience, quality, and choice.” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the move builds on the network’s legacy of giving fans “unprecedented access” to the sport.

Under the plan, ESPN would also license more NFL games for NFL Network, while the league retains control of properties like NFL Films, NFL+, and NFL.com.

ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro said the deal “redefines how fans engage with the game—anytime, anywhere.” For viewers, it could mean more football, more platforms, and more ways to stay connected all season long.
