MUSIC NOTES - Sommer Floyd, Tim Timmons and Premier Foundation

BUSY SUMMER FOR SOMMER - Emerging Texas worship leader and singer/songwriter Sommer Floyd recently wrapped up a busy summer that included concerts, ministry opportunities, media appearances and a new calling into worship, while prepping for an even more packed fall season.

Following God's call to reach people through music while embracing her passion for giving back to her Texas Hill Country community, Sommer was honored this summer to be named Music Director for Burnet, Texas-based WeakDay Ministries, an organization dedicated to bringing Christ into the daily lives of community members by offering Bible studies, worship opportunities, and other Christ-centered activities at non-traditional times and locations.

Sommer says that WeakDay Ministries will soon be announcing several exciting Fall events designed to inspire community involvement and raise funds for Texas community food banks, which are in even greater demand after the devastation from Hurricane Harvey.

TIMMONS RELEASES NEW ALBUM - Singer/songwriter, worship leader and record producer Tim Timmons, in partnership with 10,000 MINUTES Kids, independently released his second children’s project, Who I Am. This all new Bible-based, “kid-tested” and “parent-approved” debut is available now at iTunes, Amazon.com and other digital retailers internationally, and directly at www.TimTimmonsMusic.com (digital and CD).

Produced by Timmons and Christian Hale, Who I Am features 10 fully-charged pop songs intended for kids and parents “to pray all week long.” With all songs either written or co-written by Timmons, each song was carefully crafted with the question in mind, “what do we want our kids to pray?”

“The idea of both the title track, ‘Who I Am,' and the whole record – is actually our identity of what it looks like for us to know that we are loved by Jesus all week long, no matter what,” says Timmons. “It’s about working through our fears, working through the issues that we have, even when we ‘blow it’ or ‘do dumb things.’”

ART SHOW, BENEFIT HELPS BENEFIT - The fifth annual “Perspective: A Jared Emerson Art Show & Benefit” raised more than $400,000 for the Premier Foundation’s Adopt the Block projects last week.

This annual event furthers the mission of the Premier Foundation, the charitable arm of Premier Productions, which is committed to serving the world’s needy and impoverished. The event featured an art show and auction by nationally-acclaimed performance artist Jared Emerson and special guest artist TYP (a.k.a. Troy Murray). The evening included live music by Marvin Mumford & Friends and Kylie Odetta, silent and live auctions, and a direct gift request. Two paintings were completed by Emerson during the event: A portrait of NFL football legend “Mean Joe Greene” who attended the event and autographed the painting; and a portrait of Frank Sinatra painted backwards on glass.

The event raised approximately $45,000 for the Premier Foundation and two key projects in Detroit and Greenville, SC.  Premier was also presented with a $400,000 special project grant from Overcome to complete funding for the Mount Nebo Bible Baptist Church and Community Center in New Orleans.
