The Wilderness Center kicks off Native Plant sale and celebrates National Native Plant Month

Spring is in the air, and The Wilderness Center (TWC) in Wilmot is celebrating National Native Plant Month in April with its annual Native Plant Sale and an engaging lineup of expert-led presentations.

The Native Plant Sale is open for orders, offering a variety of plants that provide crucial support for local wildlife, including pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects. Unlike many common garden plants, native species help sustain biodiversity and create a thriving ecosystem.

Beyond the sale, TWC is hosting a Native Plant Month Speakers’ Series, featuring experts who will share insights on how to incorporate native plants into landscapes. The schedule includes:

  • April 5, 1 PM: Outdoor Mindfulness: Presence with Place – Caryl Church-Jesseph

  • April 12, 1 PM: Native Plants for Birds, Insects, and Biodiversity – Matt Valencic

  • April 15, 6 PM: Native Woody Plants You Should Know – Paul Snyder

  • April 22, 6 PM: Selecting Native Plants for Our Landscapes – Megan Shoenfelt
