Malone University to host tenth Jack Hazen 5k and Pump & Run

Malone University

The Malone University Wellness Council will host the tenth Malone University 5K and Pump & Run and also a free Kids' Adventure Run in honor of Coach Jack Hazen’s nearly five decades years of service to the running community on Saturday, October 8, 2016, on the home turf of the Pioneer cross country teams.

Participants may compete in the 5K run only, or combine a bench press (the pump) and a 5-K (the run). Runners will earn a deduction from their race time relative to the amount of repetitions they were able to pump. Overall and age group prizes will be awarded as well as t-shirt giveaways and more. Walkers, families, kids, and competitors are all welcome!

Register here.
Registration forms are also available at the Malone University Wellness Center on the Canton campus, located at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W. Awards will be presented to the top three overall winners as well as the top three winners in each age group for both the Pump & Run and the 5-K only competitions.
The event day schedule is as follows:

7:15 - 8:15 a.m. - start time for registration and bench press

8:30 a.m. - start time for 5K run

Coach Jack Hazen has led countless teams to nationals in cross country and track and has inspired many top performances including five national championships in cross country, including 1972, 2007, 2008, and 2009 men’s teams as well as the 1999 women’s team.  He served as men’s long distance running coach for Team USA in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London.
