As MLB and ESPN approach the end of their broadcast deal in 2025, many are wondering whether baseball will remain part of ESPN’s programming lineup. While the two sides mutually agreed not to renew their deal earlier this year, Karl Ravech, the voice of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, remains hopeful about a future agreement.
“There are very smart people that are trying to figure out ways to move forward with Major League Baseball,” Ravech said, expressing optimism about ESPN’s ongoing talks with the league.
The split seemed inevitable, given ESPN’s reduced baseball coverage in favor of NFL and NBA content. Shows like First Take rarely discuss MLB, and when they do, it’s often not in a positive light. However, Ravech argues that outside of MLB Network, ESPN still provides more baseball coverage than any other network.
With MLB exploring other broadcast partners, the future of baseball on ESPN remains uncertain. But Ravech believes the network’s Flagship platform makes it a natural home for America’s pastime. Will a new deal be reached? Only time will tell, but baseball fans will be watching closely.
